Lee Richards & Rae are both 200 hour yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance, and studied at the Whitespace studio in Stony Stratford. The course was spread over 13 months.
Lee likes to bring his knowledge of over 17 years of experience working with my therapies into my yoga classes. I like to work on the alignment and the foundation of each pose which will keep your muscles balanced with strength and flexibility.
Rae started yoga in her 20s and viewed it as an extension to her dance but soon found out that yoga has many more benefits. Yoga makes her feel happy, it calms her overactive brain and helps keeps her feel grounded. Rae yoga practice is physical with mental wellbeing that she has been searching for and with her dance could not find this balance.
Rae loved her yoga so much that she decided to teach it and create a little sanctuary for others to experience the benefits of yoga too.
The style we teach at Lee Therapies is Hatha yoga; this style of yoga is where most types of yoga that we practice today come from. Hatha yoga come is suitable for beginners and intermediate levels, making it accessible to everyone.
Yoga is a self-study of the mind and body. It’s amazing what we can learn about ourselves when we slow down and tune into what we are feeling on an emotional and physical level.
Yoga has many benefits, one of the main reasons people start coming to yoga classes that it’s an excellent way to release your stress and helps you stay calm in stressful situations.
If we sit at a desk or drive it affects our posture. When this happens it leads to fatigue and can have a big impact on how we feel physically and emotionally which can affect our sleep. It’s not uncommon for people to have more energy, better quality of sleep, become more flexible in a few sessions and often people do change as a person over time.

Based on the Western concepts of anatomy and physiology as opposed to energy work
Swedish massage is based on the Western concepts of anatomy and physiology as opposed to energy work. It can be slow and gentle, or vigorous and bracing, depending on what the therapist wants to achieve. This treatment is the most common type of massage in health and wellbeing clinics, and is the basis of most Western types of massages including sports massage, deep tissue massage and aromatherapy massage.
Swedish massage combines various hands-on techniques including effleurage, kneading, and cross-fibre friction to break up muscle knots, called adhesions.
Benefits of swedish massage
- produce an enhanced blood flow; delivery of fresh oxygen and nutrients to the tissues is improved and the removal of waste products, toxins and carbon dioxide is hastened via the venous system
- It also stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system, helping promote relaxation and the reduction of stress.
- Massage helps to reduce pain by the release of endorphins (endorphins are also known to elevate the mood).
- It also slows down the rate of respiration due to the reduced stimulation of the sympathetic nervous system
- reduce stress and anxiety by relaxing both mind and body
- create a feeling of well-being and enhanced self-esteem
- promote positive body awareness and an improved body image through relaxation
Reflexology relaxes the mind and body
Reflexology relaxes the mind and body helping to restore an order of balance of harmony with the body, mind and spirit.
Locating and gently massaging reflexology points on the feet helps redress the imbalance of energy that can cause stress and ill health. This treatment can help with various conditions from IBS to back pain. After your treatment you will feel relaxed and ready to face any challenging situation with a clear calm mind.
In todays hectic lifestyles many of our health problems can be linked to stress. A body under the influence of prolonged stress flight of fight is less capable of organizing its defenses against illnesses and repairing damage caused by injury. Stress can be mentally, emotionally, physically, or environmentally induced which can be very draining. Reflexology is primary a stress reduction technique. Through the relaxation process of Reflexology the body is better able to deal with the stresses placed on it by daily living and those associated with illness or injury.
This relaxing treatment is based on holistic principles and dates back to ancient Egypt, India and China. The system that I practice is meridian reflexology which stems from the same roots as traditional Chinese acupuncture.
Sports therapy & sports massage is not just for people who play sport
Sports therapy and sports massage is not only used for sporting and non-sporting injuries, it’s extremely good for relieving lifestyle-related tension and stress, which can cause pain. A constant build up of tension in muscles, either through lifestyle or regular exercise may lead to stress on the muscle, joints, ligaments and tendons. Regular treatment may help to prevent tension that can lead to injury.
When muscles become stressed, they cannot work smoothly, so they block oxygen and nutrients.
Deep tissue massage helps break down the muscle fibres which restores the muscle balance.
Muscles will be stretched to help restore them to their normal length.
Helps to correct the alignment of weak muscles and the facilitating joint motion.
This type of taping lifts the skin increasing the space below it therefore increasing blood flow and circulation of the lymphatic fluids.
Due to the increase in the interstitial space there is less pressure on the body’s nociceptors which detect pain.
